According to the definition of the United Nations; The child population, which includes the 0-17 age group, accounted for 48.5% of the total population in 1970, compared to 41.8% in 1990 and 27.2% in 2020.
According to population projections; the child population was projected to be 26.6% in 2025, 25.6% in 2030, 23.3% in 2040, 20.4% in 2060 and 19.0% in 2080.

The countries with the highest child population among EU member states, respectively; Ireland was seen as Ireland with 24.2%, France with 21.6%, and Sweden with 21.1%. The countries with the lowest child populations are, respectively; Italy was with 15.8%, Malta with 15.9% and Germany with 16.4%. Sanliurfa was the province with the highest child population According to ADNKS results; when the child population ratios within the total populations of the provinces are examined; In 2020, the province with the highest child population was Sanliurfa with 45.3%. Sanliurfa province was followed by Sirnak with 42.8% and Agri with 40.9%. According to ministry of health data; the rate of hospital births was 97.0% in 2019 from 91.6% in 2010. The proportion of cesarean deliveries in live births was 54.4% in 2019 from 51.1% in 2014.

According to ADNKS results; In 2020, the total age dependency rate was 47.7%.
