The shadow teacher can be expected to teach at home if necessary, and can arrange supportive study sessions for professionals, parents and classroom teachers working with the child. The shadow teacher’s responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
- Allows the special needs student to exhibit appropriate behaviors in the classroom environment,
- Guides the child to complete their in-class assignments and tasks, if necessary,
- Ensures that the child achieves the educational objectives in the individualized education plan,
- Collects data on the development and learning of the child,
- It regularly provides information about the development and learning of the child to parents, school administration and other stakeholders.
